Mission: Creating a supportive, and confidential community for women navigating religious abuse and trauma
1.Welcome & Purpose
Sisters Living with Religious Trauma® Support Media LLC (SLRT®support) is a low-cost membership community that is a peer-support and educational community for women who identify as Jehovah’s Witnesses or are unsure if they want to identify as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses who have experienced religious (spiritual) abuse/trauma. This company and community does not represent the worldwide religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses and is open to any female from any religious background, however, the content is geared towards the teachings and experiences of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Please note Mira Cassidy does offer 1:1 support resources and some services to individuals from all backgrounds, including men. Reach out to her directly by emailing [email protected]
This membership community is not therapy, crisis intervention, medical care, legal advice, or a substitute for professional treatment. This membership community is intended for education, peer support, discussion, and community connection. It is not a substitute for psychotherapy, psychiatric care, medical care, legal advice, or emergency services. Members are responsible for seeking appropriate professional assistance when needed. If you are in crisis, please reach out to proper support, such as dialing 9-8-8.
Please be aware members may be at very different places in their journey. Some may remain active Witnesses, some may be questioning, some may be inactive, and some may have left and be questioning returning. No particular spiritual outcome is required or promoted.
This Is a Support Community, Not a Requirement to Deconvert
This community recognizes that healing and spiritual exploration look different for everyone. Members are welcome to question, deconstruct, explore, or maintain aspects of their faith and spirituality. There is no requirement to leave as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses (JW), abandon one’s faith, remain a JW or adopt a particular belief system in order to participate.
2. Confidentiality
Confidentiality is a fundamental condition of membership. Information shared within this membership community is intended to remain within the community. Members may not screenshot, record, copy, reproduce, download, publish, distribute, or otherwise share another member’s posts, comments, messages, photographs, stories, or personal information outside the membership without that member’s express permission.
While members are expected to respect these confidentiality requirements, SLRT® Support cannot guarantee that another member will comply with them. Members should use discretion when sharing personally identifying or highly sensitive information. SLRT® Support will take reasonable measures to protect member privacy and maintain a supportive environment.
No content from the community can be shared without written permission.
No Identifying or Exposing Members
Be advised. Attempting to identify anonymous members is strictly prohibited.
For example:
Members may not attempt to determine or publicly speculate about another member’s identity, congregation, family relationships, or circumstances.
3. Community Safety & Respect
Members should attempt to learn to be aware and try to:
- Validate and support others rather than dismiss their experiences.
- Avoid minimizing another person’s experience.
- Avoid telling someone what they “should” believe or feel.
- Avoid weaponizing religious language or phrases such as “you need to forgive,” “be forgiving,” or “the elders are imperfect.”
- Recognize that statements that may sound benign to one person can be deeply hurtful to someone who has experienced religious abuse.
- Share experience, don’t diagnose people.
We reserve the right to remove posts, comments, or other content that we believe may threaten the safety, privacy, dignity, or well-being of the community.
Repeated or serious violations may result in suspension or termination of membership. Depending on the circumstances, content may be removed without advance notice.
Trigger Warning. When posting about potentially distressing subjects, members are encouraged to use a clear content or trigger warning so that others can make an informed decision about whether and when to engage.
Our Community Commitment
SLRT®support exists because many women have experienced environments where their voices were dismissed, their questions were discouraged, their boundaries were ignored, or their experiences were minimized.
We want this community to be different.
You are allowed to question.
You are allowed to grieve.
You are allowed to be angry.
You are allowed to have faith.
You are allowed to lose faith.
You are allowed to be somewhere in between.
You are allowed to heal at your own pace.
And you are allowed to decide what your journey looks like.
Thank you for helping us protect this space and the women who make it what it is.
